Planning For The Future:
You are now a small business owner. You hold the power to create great content and an amazing user experience in your hands. But that takes a little planning. Additionally, there are a lot of factors to consider.
Most fans follow creators for a personal connection in addition to the content they create. You should expect to lose some amount of privacy, unless your entire theme is based around anonymity. This isn’t something to be scared of, your fans will love you for you and continually shock and amaze you with their kindness and love. Make sure to add a personal touch to everything you do and your fans will come running back for more.
This also means there’s a certain risk of familial exposure or someone recognizing you on the street. If you are unwilliing to admit you have an OF account, or could be jeopardizing your security, think long and hard about going forward, and take extra precautions to avoid being exposed.
Be consistent. Your fans want to know they can rely on you. Create a general posting plan for your page and stick to it. If you tell a fan you’ll do something, do it. Consistency is the #1 key to building a successful page over time. This doesn’t mean you should sacrifice your personal life or feelings though! That’s why you need a posting plan.
How often you post or send messages is entirely based on your account style. some accounts will post multiple times daily, while others may never post because they send everything through DM.
I personally recommend a minimum of one free post per day, plus at least 5 PPV per week for free accounts. Some accounts post much more than this, some less. If you want fans to buy your PPV, regularity is important both for their expectations, and to train them to not be bothered by PPV from you.
Good communication goes a long way towards making buyers feel confident about purchasing your work. Communicate clearly what buyers can expect from your page, and also personal interactions with you.
Start with a simple, easy to read bio that clearly describes who you are and what you offer. Next, make sure your welcome message matches your bio in tone and spirit. Give your fans more details on what to expect, and a tease available for free or purchase. ALWAYS describe what is inside a locked post or message. The more descriptive you are, the more likely they are to be tempted into buying. Last, communicate clearly through comments and DMs. When fans ask a question, try to always give them a direct answer, even if the answer is that they can’t know the answer.
Define your brand. Whether you are producing art or hardcore content, your fans are going to want a cohesive experience that resonates with them. Try to define a general theme for your account and don’t switch more than once a month. If you are a cute princess, stick with it and don’t suddenly become a domineering master. Your fans follow you for a specific experience. If you do this well you will be able to attract many niche buyers.
If you don’t know where to start on defining your brand, head to the NSFW side of Twitter and check out what other content creators are doing. The goal isn’t to copy them, but to see what you do and don’t like so you can apply it to your brand.
IN GENERAL niche buyers pay more because what they want takes specific thought. Even if your content is for a general audience, try to choose a few niches that make you unique. Try to find something special about you and advertise it. i.e. giant boobs, fetish content, quality of work, theme like kawaii or MILF.
This is another place where studying others can come in handy. There is a nearly endless number of possible niches you could find yourself in. The only way to know which ones are for you is to look at others, and see if you get a positive feeling about the activity.
You can also ask followers what niches they want to see you in. You don’t have to take every request, but it will give you inspiration for new things to try.
Defining Your Brand:
With the general advice above in mind, it’s time to create the foundation of your brand. Pull up a document, take notes, and record your thoughts on each of the subjects below.
1. Content
What type of content will you produce? Will it be explicit? In many cases creators already have a collection.
Write out what type of content you’d like to create in a few sentences. i.e. “Softcore erotic cosplay content. Masturbation from the waist up, and live shows that do not contain nudity.”
It’s okay to have as many different types of content as you want, but keep in mind; in general the more niche, the more you can charge.
2. Persona
Who are you? How are you going to portray yourself online? Your persona is the core driving factor behind your business. It doesn’t have to be your real personality, but you must define how you will treat fans and interact on social media in advance.
For example… are you an innocent shy girl next door, or a femdom to be worshiped? Gentle and kind, or mean and ruthless? The answers to these questions help shape your vision for your business, the way you market, and how you sell content.
Write down at least 3 core traits of your persona, and draft a sample conversation of a buyer requesting nudes. Make sure your answers fit with your persona and how you want to be perceived.
3. Boundaries
Every content creator is going to get custom requests they don’t want to fulfill, and creeps that must be blocked. Knowing your soft and hard limits in advance takes all the stress off you. If you know your worth and stick to it you will be proud of yourself, rather than second guessing if you made the right call.
Boundaries also leave you knowing what you’ll do for free and what you won’t. Make your soft limits things you won’t do for free.
Write down a list of your soft and hard limits. Feel free to attach a price to soft limits. i.e. “soft limits: solo play $50, sexting $10, JOI $25. Hard limits: anal play, b/g, chokiing.”
You should also make a list of blocking offenses. i.e. “screen-shotting content, being rude, threatening me, sending dick pics.”
Many creators offer an unblock fee, for users that are repentant, or enjoy getting blocked as a fetish.
Remember, YOU ARE ALWAYS WORTH IT!!! Don’t undersell yourself, you are worth every penny.
The last step:
Now that you know the type of content you want to create, your boundaries, and the persona you want to use, it’s time to put them together. Using the answers from the 3 questions, choose 3-6 core values that define your brand. i.e “High quality content, Fast response time, Kindness and compassion towards fans.”
Keep all the information you’ve written together in a document. Call this section “month 1”. At the beginning of the next month, repeat these steps (with a lot less time and effort obviously) and adjust your core values if necessary. Doing so will keep you on track, producing the type of content you want to be.
