I find it fascinating how it evokes such strong reactions in people, not only when you are tying them but also outsiders and how they react to merely seeing images or videos of it. It seems everyone has very strong feelings and often times conflicting feelings about it. Some people are fascinated like me, some dont know what to feel and a lot of people have a strong dislike when first met with it and do not understand why anyone would be interested in it. From my perspective (and I would like to add a disclaimer here that I am still very much an absolute beginner and am very new to the world of ropes) I find it incredibly fascinating how it allows you to interact with another person on a physical and mental level, in a way that is entirely unusual in our day to day, except on some levels perhaps in our romantic relationships. Taking charge of someone, having them put their trust in you to keep them safe, being physically playful in a non-sexual way/environment, really focusing deeply on each other without other distractions... It is a rare thing to share and feels very special. Also the part of how it can create a trance like meditative state, for the person that is surrendering... I very much love that and that I am able to have a part in facilitating this feels precious to me. I believe the way that you are met with physical discomfort and how you have to make an effort to breathe and work through it, can teach you so many valuable things that are applicable in your daily life. It is in many ways similar to psychedelics, but it all comes from your body and mind alone in combination with the ropes, no external drugs necessary. I could go on and on talking about it and how it captures my interest... I would like to also add that this session with Ju was very fun and playful. Even though I was tying them, they would still be very active, moving and changing positions. It was very delightful to me to see the flow of me taking charge and then taking a step back letting them move in the ropes and really feel it, before I would come closer again and move them to the next thing. It felt very interactive and often times what I had in mind to do next, would change when watching them move because their movement would give me another idea or I would feel that they wanted to go in a different direction, desiring something other than what I was having in mind. And I thoroughly enjoyed this kind of dance (very fitting since JU is actually a professional dancer) between us...
