Pumpkins! I started over 20 pumpkin and squash plants this year and every single plant died. These 2 pumpkins are my entire pumpkin harvest and grew from a pumpkin I tossed on my compost pile a year ago. For the first time my plants got the dreaded squash vine borer, insects that will kill the plant within a couple of days. Every year there are successes and failures. I am a bit sad because I was trying some new varieties of squash, including one called Long Island Cheese, and Black Futsu, which is without question the ugliest squash in the wor...
